Connelly: FBI probes Ivanka Trump role and financing of Vancouver, B.C., hotel

The FBI has begun to investigate Ivanka Trump's business dealings, along with the financing of the year-old Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver, British Columbia, CNN reported Thursday night.

The network said it is not yet clear "why investigators are examining this particular deal." Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were on hand for the opening ceremonies of the hotel exactly one year ago.

"The timing of the deal -- as one of the few Trump-branded properties to open since Trump took office -- could be of interest," reported CNN.

The 63-story hotel has been controversial, criticized by Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson as not in keeping with his inclusive, multicultural city.  A Mexican-born construction worker made his way to the top during construction and unfurled a Mexican flag.
