FBI investigates financing of Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver

Ivanka Trump's business dealings are coming under scrutiny from FBI counterintelligence officials, according to CNN.

Citing two unnamed sources, the U.S. news network said that the probe includes negotiations and financing of Trump International Hotel & Tower in Vancouver.

"The scrutiny could be a hurdle for the first daughter as she tries to obtain a full security clearance in her role as adviser to President Donald Trump," CNN stated on its website.

Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner, recently had his security-clearance level downgraded.

The developer of the Vancouver property, the Holborn Group, has paid the Trump Organization to use the Trump name on the building.

Holborn is controlled by Joo Kim Tiah, who is a member of an extremely wealthy Malaysian family.

"In the case of Vancouver, it's not clear why investigators are examining this particular deal," CNN stated. "The timing of the deal—as one of the few Trump-branded properties to open since Trump took office—could be of interest. The flow of foreign money, either from the developer or international condo buyers, could also be sparking scrutiny."
