Photowalk: 10 Instagram-worthy scenes from Hollywood Boulevard

LOS ANGELES — The spotlight is on Hollywood Boulevard this weekend, even though the streets have been closed to make way for the biggest red carpet event of the year, the Academy Awards.

The Oscars take place on the Boulevard — or more specifically, the Dolby Theater, which resides on the 2.5-mile Hollywood Walk of Fame. This happens to be the No. 1 tourist attraction in Los Angeles, attracting over 25 million people annually, according to city officials. (It's No. 2 for Southern California when you factor in Disneyland of Anaheim.)

Tourists come to Hollywood to look for stars. You're not going to find Brad Pitt on the boulevard unless you count his wax likeness at Madame Tussauds. Well, you could try your luck at Musso & Frank Grill, a historic restaurant down the street that's been a celebrity magnet since 1919.

Just ask Sergio Gonzales, the longtime waiter for 47 years, who counts actor Johnny Depp, and Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones as regular customers. The Stones, "feel like Musso & Frank is their second house."

Beyond Musso & Frank, millions flock here every year, with hope in their hearts, despite much of the area still being seedy, incredibly congested and not having much to offer beyond viewing an old, historic movie theater, costumed characters to pose with and Hollywood royalty (and not some) on the ground to look at, in the form of a star with their name on it or foot and hand prints in cement.
